Aquatennial Ambassador Organization
History
The Minneapolis Aquatennial, a treasured 66-year tradition, fosters understanding and support of the civic responsibilities and opportunities of citizenship in the City of Minneapolis and the State of Minnesota. The Aquatennial Ambassador Organization forges relationships between smaller communities, the City and the Organization through participation in over 60 community celebrations throughout the State and as many as 300 public appearances throughout the year. Each year, the AAO welcomes citizens from around the state, the country, and the nation, introducing them to the City of Minneapolis and our marketplace while forging relationships and building goodwill in an atmosphere of festivity and friendship. Working in partnership with Minneapolis and the surrounding communities, the AAO honors young women, seniors and volunteers who act as ambassadors for the City and State. Programming, membership and sponsorship are managed by a Board of Directors and supported by an Ambassador Program Manager. There is no other civic celebration in Minneapolis that works both within its borders, as well as statewide, to promote public pride in our community and help to develop tomorrow's leaders. In addition to nationally recognized Minneapolis-based activities, the AAO is a true representative of the genuine spirit of Minneapolis.
Festival dates for the 2010 Minneapolis Aquatennial's BEST Days of Summer are July 16 - 25th. The grand Queen of the Lakes Coronation Gala will be held on Friday, July 23rd. Please come and join us, as we come together for a celebration of our communities and all the unique aspects that make our State a great place to live and work.
