Aquatennial Ambassadors Program
As an Ambassador, the Commodore, Queen of the Lakes, Captains, Aquatennial Princesses and Senior Ambassadors travel throughout the state and region representing the city of Minneapolis at over 300 appearances annually. The Queen of the Lakes began in 1940 and in 1952 Aquatennial Princesses were added to ambassadors. The Senior Ambassador program began in 1979. The Queen of the Lakes has historically visited other festivals throughout the U.S. and the World and is known as one of the most traveled Queens in the United States. At the end of their year of service as an ambassador of the festival, the Queen and Princesses receive educational scholarships.
The Aquatennial Ambassador Foundation generously provides the educational scholarships for the Queen of the Lakes and Princesses. The Foundation is a Minnesota nonprofit organization and a Section 501(c)(3) public charity.
