AAO 2022 Winter Newsletter

Greetings and Happy New Year to all Minneapolis Aquatennial Ambassador Organization members, alumni, and supporters! Hoping all of you had a great holiday season!

I thought it would be nice to have a quarterly newsletter to keep everyone connected and see all that is happening with AAO.

On November 8, we had a very well attended annual meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn. The food was spectacular, followed by our annual meeting. A special appearance was made by Queen of the Lakes, Erika Tillman, and our princesses Ariana Velishek and Hannah Rodgers, along with Commodore Brent LaSalle and captains Judy Holmquist and Paulette Christopher.

The Vice Commodores were also named that evening:

  • Sharolyn Carlson and Sonja Weiler – Alumni Vice Commodores

  • Kenny Devine – Marketing Vice Commodore

  • ReAnn Eidahl – Ambassador Vice Commodore

  • Emily Kegley and Carolyn Meyer – Appearance Vice Commodores

  • Bill McReavy and Dave Hutton – Commodore and Captain Vice Commodores

  • Quentin Moore – Visiting Dignitary Vice Commodore

  • Maricia Pacheco – Candidate Vice Commodore

  • Cindy Shanley – Vision Vice Commodore

I am so pleased with the team of VCs that have agreed to volunteer their time and talents this year! Thank you, VCs!

The month of December brought a change to one of our Captains. Our Captain, Judy Holmquist, needed to step down due to an injury sustained this fall. Many of you know Judy from her long history in the festival world. Judy will most certainly be missed by her team. Judy has agreed to stay active as a conduit to MASAA and their board representative, Mare Saffe. Amy Mauzy has agreed to finish out the year as Captain.

We have already started the planning process and getting things in line for the 2022 for the 2022 Aqua Magic Week.

It is my goal to have a quarterly newsletter; in addition, I would also like to add a quarterly social. The first quarterly social we are hoping to schedule in late February or early March. Stay tuned.

Wishing everyone a happy 2022!
