MASAA has a long history of celebrating the Minneapolis Aquatennial and volunteerism in the community by supporting the Minneapolis Aquatennial Senior Ambassadors.

The Senior Ambassadors consist of the Senior Queen, Senior Commodore, Senior Princess and Senior Vice Commodore.  These roles complete the Minneapolis Aquatennial Ambassador Crew.  Learn more >

Participating in community festivals and other events throughout the Upper Midwest, the Senior Ambassadors represent the Aquatennial by volunteering throughout the Twin Cities and appearing in local festival parades and coronations.

The Senior Ambassadors are selected to represent the Minneapolis Aquatennial through a selection process that includes interviews and public appearances.

Senior Queen Susan Klug

Susan was born and raised in St. Paul and graduated from Archbishop Murray High School in 1970. In 1977, she married Joseph Klug and are celebrating 40 wonderful years of marriage! The couple settled in Maple Grove where they raised three daughters.

Susan has dedicated her life to providing for her girls while working part-time. She remains an active member of her church where she has taught religious education, coordinated annual church festivals and served on various committees. Inspired by her father who was a U.S. Marshall, Susan served the Minneapolis Police Reserves from 1985-1996 and has fond memories of working many Aquatennial events over the years during the Best Days of Summer. Susan went on to become a property manager from which she retired in 2013.

Following her retirement, Susan has worked part-time for D Michael B’s. Susan and her husband now reside in Elk River where her time is spent with her husband, children and their spouses, and 17 grandchildren.  She enjoys attending their football games, wrestling matches, lacrosse games, dance recitals, coronations, birthday parties and graduations.

Senior Commodore Jim Dehn

Jim grew up in New Ulm, MN and now resides in St. Paul. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in Accounting.

Community volunteering has been a big and enjoyable part of Jim's life. Jim’s passion is serving as an adult leader and Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America, which he has done for over 20 years. He has also been involved in other community organizations including the St. Paul Jaycees and Lowertown Community Council.
