The AAO released its 2017 Aquatennial Ambassador Appearance Request and Honorary Commodore Nomination forms on its website Monday.
Coordinators of community festivals, ambassador programs and other community organizations are encouraged to submit a request for Aquatennial ambassadors to attend and participate in their festival or special event. Local volunteer opportunities, ambassador coronations, parade participation, and visits to schools and senior living facilities are examples of appearance requests for the Ambassador Crew.
In order to complete ambassador scheduling, appearance requests for 2017 must be submitted by Saturday, March 18, 2017.
The AAO takes pride in honoring outstanding volunteers from local communities with the Honorary Commodore Award.
The award consists of a certificate and medal presented by the Aquatennial Ambassador Crew during their appearance at a community festival or event. A Community's nomination could be any outstanding volunteer such as a float builder/driver, event coordinator, an individual who seems to "do it all," or is always there when you need an extra hand.
For the first time, the AAO will then choose one exemplary volunteer from all of the Honorary Commodore Award recipients to be recognized during the Aquatennial Festival in July.
