Faces of AAO: Sonja Weiler

Sonja Weiler: her reputation precedes her! She's well-known and highly regarded in the "festival community" and now you get to know her a bit better through Faces of AAO! Sonja is the Vice Commodore for Candidates, and served as Captain in 2013.

What is one of your favorite memories of being an Aquatennial Ambassador?

I enjoyed meeting new people across the state, "Living the Tradition", and the relationship made with our Ambassador Family.

What are your hopes for the Aquatennial and/or the AAO?

I want us to continue to expand our reach, enhance the candidate program, and involve more alumni in events throughout the year.

How did you first hear about the Aquatennial?

In 1997, I was a community ambassador and watched our queen participate. I was co-coordinator of the Anoka Royal Ambassador Program and maintained the relationship with AAO sending many candidates to participate.

Why do you continue to be involved with the AAO?

I believe in the mission and transformational experience the program offers to young women!

Sonja is a marketing/DECA teacher at Elk River High School. She enjoys watching her son play football in the fall and baseball in the summer, and spending time with her dog, Milly.

Planning on participating in the candidate experience? Stay tuned for more information!
